Delete your ToolShed account
ToolShed, operated by Envalt LLC, gives you full control over your account and data. This page explains how to request deletion, what is removed immediately, and what we are legally required to keep before it is permanently purged.
How to request account deletion
You can delete your ToolShed account and associated data at any time, directly from the app:
- Open the ToolShed app and sign in.
- Go to the Profile tab and tap Account.
- Tap Delete Account and confirm when prompted.
Prefer not to use the app? Email support@toolshed.cc from the address on your account and we will process the request on your behalf.
Before you can delete
If you have any active or confirmed bookings, those must be cancelled or completed first. This protects both renters and owners while a rental or dispute is still open. Pending (unconfirmed) bookings are cancelled automatically as part of deletion, and any payment authorization holds on them are released.
What is deleted right away
As soon as your request is processed, we immediately remove or anonymize your personal information, including:
- Your name and display name
- Your email address and phone number
- Your profile photo
- Your login credentials (your account is deleted from our authentication provider, Clerk)
- Your payment profile (your customer and connected-payout records are deleted from our payment processor, Stripe). ToolShed never stores full card or bank account numbers.
Your tool listings are taken down at the same time and no longer appear anywhere on ToolShed.
What is kept, and for how long
A small set of records is retained in anonymized form, no longer linked to your name, contact details, or login, so we can meet legal and operational obligations:
- Transaction and booking records, retained for up to 7 years to satisfy US tax requirements for marketplace facilitators (IRS recordkeeping rules).
- Reviews and in-app messages tied to past rentals, retained for the same window so the rental history of the other party stays intact and disputes can be resolved.
- Condition and damage photos from completed rentals, retained as evidence for any open or potential damage claim.
Once the retention window elapses, these records are permanently deleted by an automated daily purge. Nothing is kept indefinitely.
Request a copy of your data
Before deleting, you can request an export of your ToolShed data from Profile → Account → Export My Data, or by emailing support@toolshed.cc.
