How Payments Work
ToolShed uses Stripe for secure payment processing. Your payment is held and released to the lender after the rental is confirmed complete.
Security Deposits
Most tools require a security deposit (typically 25-50% of the tool's value). This is authorized on your card but not charged unless damage occurs.
Platform Fees
ToolShed charges a 15% service fee, deducted from the rental amount. This helps cover payment processing, insurance, and platform maintenance.
Refunds
If a lender cancels your booking, you receive a full refund. For renter-initiated cancellations, the refund amount depends on the lender's cancellation policy.
