Tool rental across the US

Rent Cleaning from neighbors near you

Deep cleaning is a once-or-twice-a-year job, and the gear that makes it easy sits idle the rest of the time. A carpet cleaner for spring cleaning. A floor buffer before guests. A shop vac for the post-project mess. ToolShed lets you rent it from a neighbor for the weekend and hand it back instead of storing a machine you use twice a year.

Cleaning you can rent nearby

A sample of what neighbors list. Availability depends on who's near you.

Carpet cleaners

Pull out stains and a year of traffic before the machine goes back.

Steam cleaners

Sanitize tile, grout, and sealed floors without harsh chemicals.

Shop vacs

Clean up sawdust, drywall dust, and the mess a project leaves behind.

Floor buffers

Bring back the shine on hardwood or tile before an event.

Why rent instead of buy?

A carpet cleaner costs a few hundred dollars and gets used for one weekend a year. Renting one from a neighbor is often cheaper than the big-box rental counter and closer than the drive. You get the deep clean done and the machine goes back. No storage, no upkeep between uses.

Cleaning rental FAQ

How much does it cost to rent cleaning equipment?

Owners set their own daily rates, so a shop vac and a floor buffer cost different amounts, and it varies by location. You always see the full total, including the service fee and any deposit, before you confirm.

Is it covered if something breaks?

Every rental is backed by ToolShed's damage protection, up to $500 per rental. If a tool is damaged while you have it, you file a claim in the app with photos and our team reviews it. It is a limited damage guarantee, not insurance. Read how protection works for the full details. See how protection works

How do I pick up the machine?

Message the owner to set a time, usually a quick handoff at their place. A carpet cleaner or buffer can be bulky, so make sure your vehicle has room and check the tool over at pickup.

Do I supply my own cleaning solution?

Usually, yes. Machines typically come without solution so you can pick the one you want for the job. Owners note what's included in the listing. Return the machine emptied and rinsed, the way you'd want to get it.
