Tool rental across the US

Rent Moving & Storage from neighbors near you

Moving day is one day, and the gear that makes it survivable is gear you'll never use again. An appliance dolly for the fridge. Furniture blankets so the dresser doesn't get gouged. Straps that actually hold a load. The truck rental counter charges for all of it, every time. ToolShed lets you rent it from a neighbor down the street, load up, and hand it back when the last box is in.

Moving & Storage you can rent nearby

A sample of what neighbors list. Availability depends on who's near you.

Appliance dollies

Strap a fridge, washer, or water heater and walk it out without wrecking a doorframe or your back.

Hand trucks

The workhorse for boxes, totes, and anything you'd otherwise carry twenty times.

Furniture dollies

Four wheels under a dresser or couch so one person can roll what two would carry.

Moving blankets and pads

Wrap furniture so corners, veneer, and finish survive the truck ride.

Ratchet straps and tie-downs

Hold the load still in the truck instead of listening to it slide at every stop.

Lifting and shoulder straps

Put a mattress or a heavy dresser on your legs and shoulders rather than your lower back.

Why rent instead of buy?

Buying a proper appliance dolly and a stack of moving blankets costs more than most people move in a decade, and then it lives in the garage waiting for the next time. Renting from a neighbor gets you real equipment for the weekend at a fraction of the counter price, and you skip the extra stop on a day that's already too long. The gear goes back and someone else uses it next month.

Moving & Storage rental FAQ

How much does it cost to rent moving equipment?

Owners set their own daily rates, so a hand truck and a full set of blankets and straps are priced differently, and it varies by area. You always see the full total, including the service fee and any deposit, before you confirm.

Is it covered if something breaks?

Every rental is backed by ToolShed's damage protection, up to $500 per rental. If a tool is damaged while you have it, you file a claim in the app with photos and our team reviews it. It is a limited damage guarantee, not insurance. Read how protection works for the full details. See how protection works

How do I pick up the equipment?

Message the owner to set a time, usually a quick handoff at their place. Dollies and blankets fit in most cars with the seats down, but confirm the size before you go so you're not making two trips on moving day.

Can I book it for the whole moving weekend?

Yes. Owners set the rental window and multi-day bookings are normal for moving gear. Book the full span you need up front, including the buffer day most moves quietly turn into, and message the owner early if your dates slip.

Do you rent moving trucks?

No. ToolShed is for equipment, not vehicles, so you'll still rent or borrow the truck itself. What you get here is everything that goes in it: the dollies, blankets, and straps the truck counter charges extra for.
