Rent Painting from neighbors near you
Painting a room by hand is a Saturday. Painting a whole house or a fence by hand is a lost month. The gear that makes it fast (a sprayer, a tall ladder, a texture gun) costs more than the paint and sits idle once the job's done. ToolShed lets you rent it from a neighbor for the weekend and give it back clean.
Painting you can rent nearby
A sample of what neighbors list. Availability depends on who's near you.
Paint sprayers
Coat a house exterior, a fence, or a deck in a fraction of the brush time.
Extension ladders
Reach the second story, the gable, or the gutter line safely.
Texture guns
Match existing wall or ceiling texture after a repair.
Sanders
Prep and smooth trim, doors, and walls before the first coat.
Why rent instead of buy?
A quality paint sprayer runs a couple hundred dollars and needs careful cleaning and storage. For a one-weekend job, renting one from a neighbor gets you a smooth, even finish without the cost or the closet space. Same with a tall extension ladder you'd otherwise buy once and trip over for a decade.

Painting rental FAQ
How much does it cost to rent painting tools?
Owners price their own listings, so a sprayer and a ladder cost different amounts, and rates vary by area. Whatever the price, you see the full total, including the service fee and any deposit, before you confirm.
Is it covered if something breaks?
Every rental is backed by ToolShed's damage protection, up to $500 per rental. If a tool is damaged while you have it, you file a claim in the app with photos and our team reviews it. It is a limited damage guarantee, not insurance. Read how protection works for the full details. See how protection works
How do I get the equipment?
Set a pickup time with the owner in the app. A long extension ladder needs a roof rack or a truck to carry, so confirm the length and how it transports before you go.
Do I clean the sprayer before returning it?
Yes. Sprayers and guns should come back clean and free of dried paint, the same way you'd want to receive one. Owners note their return expectations in the listing, so budget a little time at the end of the job for cleanup.
